Jerash - Amman

Depart Tel Aviv and drive to Sheik Hussein Bridge for border crossing procedures to enter Jordan.
Our first stop is Jerash, the ancient Roman city of the Decapolis. The city is one of the best examples of the grand, formal provincial Roman urbanism found throughout the Middle East. It contains paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, a handsome theatre, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls pierced by towers and gates.
Onto Amman and a visit to the Zizia Railway Station on the Hajeez Railway Line which ANZAC Light Horse captured at the closing point of the war. This was in important strategic achievement in cutting off the Hejaz railway link to the Ottoman garrisons in Arabia.
Visit Amman Citadel and Amphitheater. The Citadel is considered an important site because it has had a long history of occupation by many great civilizations.

Kings Way

Depart Amman for Madaba. Best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, Madaba is home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land.
Visit Mt. Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land before his passing. Explore the remains of the Byzantine Church with a mosaic floor, and from a platform in front of the church enjoy a breathtaking view across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.
Visit the magnificent ruins of the crusader castle at Shobak. The castle is perched in a wild, remote landscape in southern Jordan. Built in 1115 by Baldwin I. of Jerusalem it was strategically located on a hill on the plain of Edom, along the pilgrimage and caravan routes from Syria to Arabia.

Petra

Enjoy a spectacular full day tour exploring the rose-red city of Petra. Enjoy a short horse ride, and then travel on foot through the awesome ‘SIQ’ valley. Visit the Treasury, and explore hundreds of buildings, tombs, temples, and a 3,000-seat theater from the first-century AD.

Day 13 | Saturday 4th November 2017
Departure

Follow the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia on a jeep tour of the spectacular Wadi Rum Desert.
See the Well of Lawrence and his Statue, and the famous Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Hear about his conquest of Aqaba coming from the East as the Turkish guns faced seaward to the West.
See the Wadi Rum Railway Station taken by Lawrence to stop Turkish reinforcements into the Holy Land and hear how General Allenby was sending messages requesting him to slow down his progress.
Onto Aqaba for a tour of the city and see the biggest flag in the world.
Transfer to Eilat for your domestic flight to Tel Aviv International Airport. (B)
